Kitchen Remodel - Chula Vista, CA
Location: Chula Vista, CA
Project Type: Kitchen Remodel
Completed: 2019
THE PROBLEM
Ken and Hilda's kitchen had 23-year-old honey oak builder cabinets that were short, dated, and leaving a foot of dead space between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling. The kitchen worked — but it wasn't what they wanted. And after hearing plenty of contractor horror stories from friends, they were cautious about who they trusted with the job.
THE SOLUTION
San Diego Remodeling Pros replaced the cabinets with full-height cabinetry that goes all the way to the ceiling — adding significant storage and completely transforming the look of the space. Designer Susan Matanguihan went with Ken and Hilda to multiple locations until they found exactly the right quartz countertop and backsplash. She produced 3D renderings and was on site with the installers to make sure every detail was executed exactly as planned.
Mike showed up on time. Every time. The project was spelled out in clear stages so there were no surprise costs at any point. Completely, totally on budget — not a dollar over. And they finished early.
THE RESULT
A kitchen Hilda loves. Details she always wanted. And a process that turned skeptics into believers.
WHAT KEN AND HILDA HAD TO SAY
★★★★★
"We love our kitchen. Couldn't be happier, and I got all the little details I wanted. The cabinets we had originally were 23 years old — with this, we've got a lot more space. Mike came on time, always. He had everything spelled out so it wasn't like a contractor saying 'Oh, I need $4,000 more.' You knew exactly what you were going to have at what stage. Completely, totally on budget. Not a dollar over. Susan was excellent to work with — she was very patient with me because I wasn't sure what I wanted. She went with us to many different locations and we finally found the quartz I wanted. She did 3D renderings and came with the installers to make sure they understood exactly what they had to do. I appreciated the timeline — on time? They were early. Unbelievable. Where do you hear that? Nowhere."
